This policy explains how your data is processed when you use Master of Cladia and its associated services. It covers accounts, games, notifications and user support. The terms of use are set out separately.
1. Data controller and contact
The data controller is BACKGRID RESPONSIVE TECHNOLOGIES SL, the developer of Master of Cladia operating under the Quasar Factory Games brand. Its address is Calle Castro 50, piso 3, puerta izquierda, 38006 Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.
For privacy enquiries, to exercise your rights or to request deletion of your account and data, email info@backgrid.es.
2. Data we process
Account and authentication. We process the name or nickname you provide, your email address, information required to authenticate you, account identifiers and access dates. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the information you authorise that provider to share, such as your identifier, name and email. Apple may provide a relay address instead of your actual email. We do not need your Google or Apple password.
Guests, games and progress. Features available to guests may use a session identifier. We process saved games, turns, actions, campaigns, results, statistics and rankings. Guest mode does not mean that every feature operates without communicating with external services. Your nickname and shared game information may be visible to other participants or in public rankings.
Technical and notification data. We may process the game version, language, operating system, device information, subscription identifiers, notification tokens and session, delivery or notification-opening records. Connections to services also transmit an IP address. Section 4 explains OneSignal's involvement.
Local storage and support. Your device stores preferences, session information and saved games. When you contact us, we process your email, message and any files you send so that we can help. Do not include sensitive information that is unnecessary for your enquiry.
3. Purposes and legal bases
Data required to manage your account, authenticate you, maintain your progress and synchronise multiplayer games is processed to provide the service you request, on the basis of performance of our contractual relationship under Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Protecting accounts, investigating abuse, preserving game integrity and handling enquiries may rely on our legitimate interest in maintaining a secure and operational service under Article 6(1)(f), where appropriate and after balancing it against your rights. Legal obligations are fulfilled on the basis of Article 6(1)(c).
Optional processing that requires consent is carried out on that basis. You may withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Reading this policy or accepting the game terms does not replace any specific consent that may be required.
4. Notifications and OneSignal
We use OneSignal to manage notifications about your games, such as new turns, pending moves or results. On Android, delivery uses Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging; on iOS, Apple's notification service is involved. Operating-system permission determines whether notifications can be displayed.
The OneSignal SDK may automatically process user and subscription identifiers, delivery tokens, device model, operating system, language, time zone, approximate country and IP address. It also records activity such as first and last session, session count, usage duration and notification-permission status. When you sign in, we link your internal MoC identifier to the subscription to direct notifications to your account. These identifiers can be personal data even if they do not contain your name or email.
The current configuration does not share your GPS location with OneSignal. You can disable notifications in the game or device settings. This is not equivalent to deleting your account and does not necessarily erase data already held by the provider. You may request erasure through our privacy contact.
Provider information: OneSignal Privacy Policy.
5. Advertising and analytics
The current version does not contain in-game advertising and does not use Google Analytics or Unity Analytics to analyse gameplay usage. The current Android configuration does not use Google's advertising identifier. This does not exclude our own game statistics or the technical and session data processed by the notification services described here.
6. Recipients
In addition to BACKGRID, providers needed for hosting, maintenance, email and notifications may access data. OneSignal, Google and Apple are involved in the cases described. Platforms through which you download or purchase the game independently process data for their own services under their own policies.
Other players and visitors to rankings may see your nickname and game information published for those features. Data may also be disclosed to authorities where legally required. We do not sell your personal data or use it for personalised advertising within the game.
7. International transfers
Some providers, including OneSignal, Google and Apple, operate internationally. Their involvement may entail processing outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. The applicable safeguard depends on the provider, service and contractual terms.
OneSignal's publicly available contractual documentation provides for mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses and the Data Privacy Framework where applicable. You can consult its Data Processing Addendum and request information about the safeguards relevant to processing your data from info@backgrid.es.
8. Retention
Account and progress data is retained while you maintain your account and it is needed to provide the features you use. Enquiries are retained while being handled and for the period necessary to address any resulting liabilities. Technical and security records are limited to the time needed to resolve incidents, investigate abuse and protect the service.
Following an erasure request, personal data is no longer used for the account's ordinary purposes. A limited subset may need to be retained for legal obligations or claims for the applicable periods. Historical game records should only be retained without identifying you, or where a legitimate purpose justifies retention. Data in backups or subject to legal retention must remain restricted and be removed in accordance with its retention cycle and applicable legal limits.
9. Deleting your account and data
You can initiate a request using the delete-account option in the game settings. Depending on how you sign in, authentication or email confirmation may be required. You can also request deletion without having the app installed: follow the account and data deletion instructions or email info@backgrid.es with the associated email address, stating that you wish to delete your Master of Cladia account.
Deleting your account means losing access to your progress and ceasing participation with that account in games. To preserve other users' games, moves or results may be retained without keeping their association with your account. A request covers associated personal data, including data held by providers where applicable, rather than merely disabling access.
Uninstalling the game does not by itself delete your server account. Local files you have copied or exported may remain on your device. Withdrawing notification permission or signing out is likewise not equivalent to deleting OneSignal data.
10. Security and permissions
Communications with production services use HTTPS. We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk; no measure can guarantee absolute security. We will not ask you to email passwords or access tokens to exercise your rights.
The current Android configuration does not require access to contacts, the camera, microphone or GPS location. You can withdraw notification permission through device settings. Online features require an Internet connection.
11. Your rights
You may request access, rectification, erasure and restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and request portability where the legal requirements are met. You can also withdraw consent previously given.
Email info@backgrid.es with your request and the account concerned. If there are reasonable doubts about your identity, we may request additional information strictly necessary to verify it. We generally respond within one month; where a legally permitted extension applies, we will explain the reasons within that first month.
You may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency or the supervisory authority relevant to your place of residence.
12. Children and minors
If you are a minor, you must use the service in accordance with your country's age and authorisation requirements and the game terms. Where processing requires consent that you cannot validly give because of your age, your legal representative must be involved. Representatives can contact info@backgrid.es for enquiries or to exercise the relevant rights.
13. Automated game rules
The game uses automated rules to calculate turns, results and rankings. These are part of the game mechanics and do not in themselves constitute decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not use data to create personalised advertising profiles within the game.
14. Website and external services
This policy concerns the game and its associated services. Browsing the website may involve website-specific cookies and analytics, distinct from those of the game; see its cookie information and applicable notices. This policy page does not load analytics scripts, automatic translation or external forms. Links to Discord, stores and other services are subject to their respective controllers' policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the processing described changes. Significant changes will be communicated by appropriate means and, where necessary, the relevant consent will be requested before new processing begins. The possibility of introducing advertising or analytics in the future does not mean that they are active now.
For any questions about this policy or your data, contact info@backgrid.es.
